The Hague is known as the international city of peace and justice, but the city also has a great deal to offer regarding sports and culture. The third largest city of the Netherlands is the home of King Willem-Alexander and also hosts the House of Representatives, the Senate and almost all ministries. The International Court of Justice is located in the city, based in the Peace Palace. And, the majority of the foreign embassies in the Netherlands are located in The Hague, as well as more than 150 international organisations.
The 11 kilometre sandy beach makes The Hague a popular seaside resort. The renewed boulevard of Scheveningen with pavilions, restaurants and shops ensures that the coast of The Hague can count on a large number of visitors every year. The Hague is ambitious when it comes to organising international sports events. In 2014 the city hosted the World Cup Hockey, in 2015 the World Cup Beach Volleyball and in June 2018, the finish of the Volvo Ocean Race will take place in The Hague.
